US President Donald Trump said on Monday that the United States and Iran held “productive” talks over the weekend aimed at ending current hostilities
In a post on Truth Social, Trump said he has ordered a temporary pause on planned military strikes targeting Iranian power infrastructure.
“I am pleased to report that the United States of America, and the country of Iran, have had, over the last two days, very good and productive conversations regarding a complete and total resolution of our hostilities in the Middle East,” he wrote.
Trump added that, following the discussions so far, he instructed the Department of War to postpone any military strikes on Iranian power plants and energy infrastructure for a five-day period, pending the success of ongoing talks.

The announcement comes after heightened tensions over the weekend, when Trump warned that the US military would “obliterate” Iran’s power facilities if Tehran did not reopen the Strait of Hormuz within 48 hours. The waterway is a key route for global oil shipments.
The temporary halt in military action comes amid growing concerns about the potential economic impact of a US-Iran escalation, particularly on oil prices and global inflation.
