Kamo State has addressed rumours about his relationship with actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele, saying there is no truth to claims that they have drifted apart.
Speaking during an interview with BBC Yoruba, the skit maker explained that although people no longer see them together as often as before, their relationship remains as strong as ever.
According to him, their busy work schedules are the main reason they are not frequently spotted together.
Reflecting on how their relationship began, Kamo State said meeting Funke Akindele was a special moment because he had admired her long before they worked together.
He said:
“Before I met her, she had been like a role model to me; I love very much. The first time I saw her in person was on the set of Everybody Loves Jenifa. I started calling her mummy because of how she treated me on set.
We are still together, even closer. But now she is very busy with her December project, which didn’t give her a chance. I am also not the same as I used to be last year, and her prayer is that I should also always be called to work on projects.
Actress is a very good person to me and my family.”
He said both of them have become busier with their individual careers, making it harder to spend as much time together as they once did. Even so, he insisted that nothing has changed between them, adding that Funke Akindele has continued to support and encourage his growth in the entertainment industry.
