Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has imposed a 24-hour curfew in response to the escalating violence and looting during the hunger protests
The curfew, announced at a press conference, aims to prevent further destruction of property, looting, and harm to innocent citizens.
Governor Yusuf expressed regret that the peaceful protests were hijacked by thugs and hoodlums, leading to wanton destruction and chaos.
He emphasized that the curfew is necessary to protect lives, properties, and public assets.
According to Daily Trust, the governor urged citizens to remain vigilant and work together to maintain peace and harmony.
Kano State is the third state to impose a curfew, following similar measures by Borno and Yobe states, in an effort to restore calm and order.
