The Kano State House of Assembly was thrown into mourning on Wednesday following the sudden d3aths of two of its members within the span of an hour
The Assembly’s spokesperson, Kamaludden Shawai, confirmed the tragic events to PREMIUM TIMES.
The first announcement was the passing of Aminu Sa’adu, the representative for Ungoggo Local Government Area, who reportedly d!ed on Wednesday morning after a brief illness. Shortly after, the Assembly confirmed the death of Sarki Aliyu, lawmaker representing Kano Municipal LGA.
According to Shawai, Aliyu collapsed at the Assembly complex soon after learning of Sa’adu’s death. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors pronounced him d3ad.
The two lawmakers were known to be close friends, making the double loss even more devastating. Shawai described the deaths as leaving the legislative house and the constituents of Ungoggo and Kano Municipal in a state of shock, with lawmakers calling it an unprecedented tragedy for the state’s political leadership.
