The ancient city of Kano was plunged into grief on Thursday following the de.ath of a woman who had just delivered quintuplets at Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital.
She reportedly passed away on Wednesday night, only hours after giving birth
High-level medical sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity, confirmed that the mother’s condition worsened rapidly after the delivery, despite efforts by hospital staff to stabilize her.
The quintuplets are currently receiving intensive care at the hospital, though their exact condition has not been disclosed. Hospital authorities have yet to release a full statement on the circumstances surrounding the mother’s death.
Family members and relatives were seen mourning at the hospital as news of her passing spread late Wednesday night. Authorities have indicated that further details will be provided as investigations and medical reviews continue.
Nabulisi Abubakar, the Public Relations Officer of the Kano State Ministry of Health, confirmed the mother’s death to reporters in Kano.
