A new dispute has erupted in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) as Katsina United declared forward Uche Collins absent without official leave (AWOL)
Club chairman Surajo Umar Baba revealed that Collins has not been seen since Katsina United’s league match against Rangers International on February 22, 2026, at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium in Katsina, which was the team’s last official contact with the player.

The club emphasized that Collins’ absence is a serious breach of contract, not a routine administrative matter, noting that he remains under contract with Katsina United until the end of the 2026/2027 season.
“Uche Collins is a registered player of Katsina United. He has not been granted permission to be absent, and his failure to report for duties constitutes a violation of his professional obligations,” Baba stated.
Katsina United also warned other clubs against approaching or attempting to sign Collins without following proper transfer procedures, including obtaining an International Transfer Certificate (ITC) where required, stressing that legal action would be taken against any team that violates these rules.
Collins’ unexpected absence is a significant blow to the “Chanji Boys,” as he has been one of the team’s key players over the past two seasons.
