Marshall said the move underscores the state government’s commitment to ensuring that healthcare facilities are fully equipped to serve residents effectively.

He listed the hospitals to be rehabilitated as those in Kambaza, Suru, Kamba, Dirin-Daji, Kangiwa, Koko, and Yauri, adding that Argungu General Hospital had already been upgraded with modern facilities.

“With this new approval, a total of 16 general hospitals have already been rehabilitated under Governor Idris’s administration,” Marshall said, noting that the goal is to ensure all 30 general hospitals in Kebbi are modernized before the end of the governor’s tenure.

The council also approved the release of N570 million to the Kebbi Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (KECHEMA) for registering 45,000 vulnerable persons under the State Social Register — at least 200 individuals per ward.

“This initiative will help KECHEMA expand access to affordable healthcare for the poor and vulnerable,” Marshall said.

Additionally, the state provided its counterpart funding for the World Bank’s IMPACT project to rehabilitate 73 primary healthcare centers, while the council also approved the renovation of another 42 centers across various local governments.
