Ministry of Agriculture CS Mithika Linturi has revoked the license of KEL Chemicals amid accusations of producing substandard fertilizers.
Linturi declared the Thika-based plant a crime scene following investigations into the fake fertilizer scandal. He affirmed that the government would halt payments to fertiliser suppliers during the inquiry.
Linturi assured thorough investigations before any further action. Despite claims of fake fertiliser, Linturi clarified it as substandard during a Senate committee session. He likened it to producing bread below standard weight, emphasizing the distinction between substandard and counterfeit products. The move underscores the government’s commitment to quality agricultural inputs for farmers.
