BBNaija star Kiddwaya has said Nigeria would have been more developed if the British had stayed in the country for another 10 to 15 years.
The reality TV star said this in a post on X while describing the statement as an “unpopular opinion.”
He wrote:
“Unpopular opinion. The British should have stayed in nigeria for 10/15 more years. You go see better development.”
Kiddwaya’s comment brings up the question of how much more development Nigeria could have achieved during an extended period of British rule.
British colonial rule in Nigeria lasted for several decades before the country gained independence on October 1, 1960. During that period, the British established administrative structures, expanded rail and road networks, introduced Western-style education and developed parts of the country’s infrastructure. Nigeria became an independent nation in 1960, ending formal British colonial rule.
