The traditional
ruler of Ibiaku Issiet in Uruan local government area of Akwa Ibom State, Chief
Williams Etim, has been reported kidnapped. Williams and his elder brother,
Placid Etim, were said to have been abducted yesterday at about 2.30am at their
country home.

A member of the
family and a former lawmaker at the Federal House of Representatives, Bassey
Etim, told newsmen that the kidnappers called him and demanded N200million
ransom.

“They called me
at about 12.00 noon yesterday to demand N200million before they could be
released. I don’t know where I can raise such a huge amount of money,’’ he

He however pleaded
with the President to assist the family stating that several attempts to reach
out to one of the kidnappers who had earlier called him to demand for the
ransom were unsuccessful.
