Kim Kardashian appeared to be thrown for a loop when her daughter North West asked her followers for money during a recent Instagram Live session
The 45-year-old reality TV icon joined her 12-year-old daughter for the chat, but she stayed out of the frame in a clip that subsequently went viral on social media.
That disappointed North, who appeared to want her mom to how up on screen so that her viewers would lavish her with virtual gifts.
The Daily Mail has reached out to Kardashian’s representative for comment.
Kim — who has reportedly been ‘enjoying a secret romance’ with British racing driver Lewis Hamilton in recent weeks — refused to show her face and instead just stuck up a hand behind North while wiggling her fingers to show that she was present.
‘You should just show your face, because . . . I don’t know,’ North said in exasperation.
‘I want some money!’ she added, drawing out the last word and grinning, which revealed the blacked-out grill that she was wearing over her teeth.
‘What?!’ a shocked Kim shot back. ‘No, we don’t ask — no, no, no.’
‘OK!’ North replied in apparent exasperation.
After telling off her oldest daughter, whom she shares with her ex-husband Kanye West, Kim then softened and asked, ‘What do you mean?’
‘Because, TikTok Live, like —’ North began to explain, but Kim cut her off to correct her that ‘This isn’t TikTok Live, this is Instagram.
‘So you were, like, kind of messed up for a second,’ the All’s Fair star said in a softer voice as North repeated, ‘I know, I know.’
Then, Kim admitted, ‘I thought you were asking me for something,’ before letting out a laugh.
North’s potential confusion about which social media platform she was using at the moment was understandable, as Instagram and TikTok have both adopted features over the years that give them similar user experiences.
