Kim Kardashian’s new magazine cover for 7HOLLYWOOD has sparked furious accusations that she is “blackfishing”, something she has been accused of several times before.
In the Thierry Mugler-directed photoshoot, Kim, who is of Armenian descent, wears a 60s Motown-style dress and wig, her skin looking darker than usual.
When she posted photos from the shoot on to her Instagram , her followers were quick to accuse her of adopting ‘blackface’.
One questioned: “I don’t understand how a magazine in this day in age could do something like this? This is f***ing disgusting.”
One wrote: “Kim you will never be a black woman.”
“They did entirely too much editing. Her skin is too dark. Stay true to color,” said another.
A fourth added: “Wtf is this, be yourself, stop this… Especially since black women are still demonized for our skin.”
A source close to Kim told Page Six it was “the lighting that makes her look darker in this specific image”.
