Kim Kardashian has urged followers to be mindful of scams after her name was attached to a phoney fundraiser, purportedly for victims of the Los Angeles bushfires
So far the devastating inferno has destroyed 40,000 acres across the most affluent neighborhoods in LA, with A-list celebrity homes and restaurant hotspots among the 12,300 structures wiped out.
As the official de.ath toll climbs to 24, anxious residents are preparing for another 72 hours of hellish weather conditions expected to propel the fires in new directions.
And Kardashian, 44, who owns a sprawling property in The Oaks – an exclusive gated community close to the epicentre of the blaze – has since warned her prodigious social media following of fraudulent fundraising emails.
Sharing a photo of one such scam – presented as a campaign launched by the TV personality to raise funds for those affected by the disaster – she wrote: ‘Beware of scammers!
‘This is not real, if anyone gets an email like this. How horrible.’
Highlighting another fraudulent email – titled Kim Kardashian Campaigns For Affected People In LA and littered with grammatical mistakes – she added: ‘This email is NOT me!’
