Minister of Defence, Christopher Musa (retd.), has urged troops to adopt a more aggressive approach in the fight against insurgency, instructing them to eliminate Boko Haram members wherever they are found
Speaking to soldiers in Maiduguri, Borno State, alongside the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, Musa stressed that decisive action on the battlefield is crucial and that troops must confront terrorists without hesitation.
“Look for Boko Haram and kill them. Is that clear? You don’t have to wait for anybody. Any Boko Haram member you encounter, it is your duty, wherever you are deployed, to take them down,” he said on Tuesday.
Musa warned that the era of passivity is over, emphasizing that waiting for orders will no longer be tolerated. “I don’t want to hear anyone saying they were waiting for instructions,” he added.
The minister assured troops of the federal government’s commitment to providing the support, equipment, and intelligence necessary to secure victory against insurgents.
His remarks come amid ongoing military operations in the North-East aimed at dismantling insurgent strongholds and restoring peace and security to affected communities.
