Men of the Kwara State Fire Service have recovered the lifeless body of an unidentified man from a river along the Osin/Laduba area in Ilorin West Local Government Area

The incident was reported in the afternoon of Thursday by officials of the Kwara State Ministry of Environment.

In a statement, the Public Relations Officer of the fire service, Hassan Hakeem Adekunle, said the distress call was received at about 2:42 p.m.

“On Thursday, February 12, 2026, at about 14:42hrs, the Kwara State Fire Service received a call from staff of the Ministry of Environment reporting that a lifeless body had been found in a river along the Osin/Laduba axis,” Adekunle said.

He stated that firefighters were immediately deployed to the scene and successfully recovered the body of an unidentified male, estimated to be about 43 years old. The body was handed over to officials of the Ministry of Environment for further procedures.

Adekunle added that health officials fumigated the recovered body and surrounding area to safeguard public health and ensure environmental safety.

Reacting to the incident, the Director of the Kwara State Fire Service, CFS Alabi Muhammed, urged residents to exercise caution around water bodies and to promptly alert relevant authorities in emergencies. He also reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to protecting lives and collaborating with other agencies in emergency responses across the state.
