Dayo ‘D1‘ Adeneye, a music executive, recently shared some interesting stories about Nigerian singer 2Baba (formerly known as 2Face).
He was speaking on the ‘Deep Dive‘ podcast hosted by comedian Teju Babyface.
Adeneye, who used to work with 2Baba at Kennis Music label, talked about how popular the singer is. He said, “We’ve been at a couple of shows where I’ve seen girls faint when 2Face was performing.”
He described a specific concert in Ivory Coast: “I went on a tour in Ivory Coast, and brought a girl on stage and she hugged 2Face and passed out. During that concert, four girls fainted.”
What’s interesting is that this happened in a country where English isn’t the main language. Adeneye noted, “These were people who didn’t speak English but they knew the lyrics of all his songs word-for-word.”
Adeneye also mentioned that Kennis Music, at its peak, had over 50 artists signed to the label, including famous names like Lagbaja.
