A lady has cried out after allegedly losing ₦7 million to a man she met on Instagram, saying he is now demanding another ₦12 million and threatening to release their private moments online.
She said the two dated for eight months. The man was based in Germany, while she was in Nigeria.
According to her, he was the one who first sent her a message on Instagram. They started talking regularly and soon became very close.
At the time, she said she was lonely because her previous relationship had ended. She liked his personality and gradually became comfortable with him.
She said he made it easy for her to trust him, and the relationship eventually became intimate. She had no idea that, according to her, many of the things he had told her about himself were false.
She said things took a different turn after she went to a friend’s party.
“Yesterday, I went out to my friend’s party, so I won’t die of depression. A friend of mine had a party, and I went. He called me on video call and said, ‘So you don’t have money to pay me, but you’re partying?’
“The money I was supposed to use to buy a car, I paid him ₦7 million, only for him to start asking for another ₦12 million since Thursday.
“I have been hustling since when I was in 200 level, selling hair. I have been gathering this money to buy my car. I gathered about ₦19 million.
“Inside it, I paid this guy ₦7 million. I had to also pay a hacker to hack his location, and I found out that every detail he gave me was fake.
“He has threatened to share them online if I don’t pay him the ₦12 million. I never knew this thing could happen to me. I was just in love…”
She said she had been saving the money for a car after years of working and selling hair. Out of the ₦19 million she had gathered, she gave the man ₦7 million.
She also said she later paid a hacker to help track his location, which was when she discovered that the information he had given her about himself was allegedly not true.
Now, she says she is left dealing with the financial loss and the threat that her private moments with the man could be shared online.
