A young woman has publicly criticized the police and government over their treatment of officers who have served the country, using her father’s deteriorating health as an example

In an emotional video, she revealed that her father, a retired police officer who served for 25 years, is now battling a stroke and brain damage. According to her, despite his years of service, the police department only donated N10,000 to support his medical bills.
“He has been down for one year. This illness has made us sell property, has made us sell land and everything. The government has done nothing about this. We have gone to his office to cry, to beg. But still, nothing has been done,” she lamented.
She called on security forces to reconsider their stance before cracking down on citizens demanding better governance, pointing out that economic hardships affect everyone, including officers.
“Because you are a police officer, you will not buy a cup of rice for ₦100. It’s the same ₦400 and ₦500 that we are buying that you will buy too. Because you are a thug, you are not going to buy a cup of rice for ₦100. No, it’s the same ₦200, it’s the same ₦400 and ₦800 that you will use to buy,” she stated.
She also decried the plight of widows of fallen officers, arguing that the government neglects them, leaving their families in distress.
“There is no royalty. NHIS is a scam. NHIS covers only 40 percent. My darling, if you escape it as a parent, you have the money that is blocking your ear, your escape is you die. Guess what? Your children will become prostitutes, your sons will become thieves, your children will become victims, and your wife will become a victim of circumstances,” she warned.
Expressing frustration over her father’s condition, she noted that her family had to sell his only piece of land to fund his treatment.
She concluded by urging security personnel to reflect on their colleagues’ struggles and join the call for systemic change instead of suppressing those advocating for a better Nigeria.
“It’s time to start a movement,” she declared.
