A lady based in Abuja, Chioma Oniniwu, who accused footballer, Victor Ebele Jnr, of r.ape, has retracted her statement
In a video retraction published on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, Oniniwu formally apologized to the footballer and his family for the emotional distress and reputational damage caused by her social media statements.
“Victor Ebele never r.aped me. I was so frightened I took laws into my hands,” Oniniwu stated in the video, appealing to online media outlets to take down initial reports accusing the player.
The development follows her arrest by security operatives on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, following investigations into cyberbullying, defamation, and filing false reports.
Oniniwu was subsequently arraigned before an Abuja court, which ordered her remand in prison custody before she satisfied her bail conditions.
The dispute began in September 2025 when Oniniwu posted allegations on X, claiming the footballer had assaulted her.
She further accused officers at the Gwarinpa Police Division in Abuja of failing to investigate the matter, while alleging that the player’s family members intimidated her.
However, electronic chat records released by the footballer indicated that the duo were involved in a consensual relationship and that the dispute arose over financial matters and pregnancy claims.
