Lagos COVID-19 positivity rate increases from 0.1% to 14.1% in 24 days –Commissioner

The Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, says there has been a significant increase in the COVID-19 case positivity rate in the state.

Giving an update of the COVID-19 situation as of December 10, 2021, on Sunday via his Instagram page @profakinabayomi, Prof. Abayomi said as of November 15, 2021, the case positivity was 0.1 per cent, adding that it jumped to 14.1 per cent on the reported date.

He said, “As of 15th November 2021, case positivity was 0.1 per cent. Over the past 24 days, there has been a significant increase in case positivity from 0.1 per cent to 14.1 per cent as of 10th of December, 2021.”

According to the commissioner, the total number of COVID-19 cases is 79,925 and the average case positivity is 8.9 per cent.

He added that the fatality rate is at 0.87 perc ent.

Abayomi noted that the total number of COVID-19 related deaths is now 687.
