The Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, has announced the reopening of the Third Mainland Bridge today, December 21, 2023

Recall that the bridge had been partially closed for a month for essential maintenance work.
The announcement, which was made around 6 pm on Thursday, brought relief and excitement to Lagosians who rely heavily on the bridge for daily commutes.
“We are pleased to announce that parts of the Third Mainland Bridge which were closed last month will reopen today,” stated Osiyemi, acknowledging the inconveniences caused by the closure.
“Following essential maintenance, the entire bridge is now fully accessible to the public, ensuring smoother connectivity and safe commuting.”
While some sections were closed for repairs, the full closure of the bridge significantly impacted traffic flow in Lagos, forcing millions to adjust their routines and find alternative routes.
