Nigeria on Wednesday recorded 559 new COVID-19 cases, as total infections rose to 197,046.
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) stated this on Thursday morning.
However, the new cases reported indicates a decrease from the 597 cases reported on Tuesday.
The centre said the new cases were reported from 14 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The NCDC said Lagos reported 232 cases while Rivers reported 83.
It said Enugu-66, Oyo-28, Kaduna-25, FCT-24, Delta-22, Akwa Ibom-19, Kwara-18, Ekiti-13, Bayelsa-nine, Cross River-nine, Ogun-six, Kano-three and Gombe-two.
The centre also recorded five deaths.
The NCDC said 220 COVID-19 patients recovered and were discharged from various isolation centres across the federation.
