Late Junior Pope’s wife marks 1 year remembrance of his demise

On April 10, 2025, Jennifer Awele, the widow of late Nollywood actor Junior Pope, marked the one-year anniversary of his passing with a deeply emotional tribute on her Instagram page

Reflecting on the loss, Jennifer opened up about the pain of trying to stay strong for their three sons—Jason, Jaden, and Jamon—while still grappling with the heaviness of grief and the emptiness left behind. She shared how difficult it has been to answer their questions, especially when they recall their father’s promises.

She expressed gratitude to everyone who has supported the family during their mourning, acknowledging the outpouring of love and prayers. She also paid tribute to Junior Pope’s enduring legacy, saying he touched not just his family but countless fans and admirers through his work.

She captioned:

“It’s been one year of standing in the face of our unimaginable loss, and not a day has gone by without a thought of you. Your love still surrounds us, your laughter echoes in our hearts, and your presence is felt in the quiet moments when we miss you most.

“I still don’t have the right words to respond to Jason and Jaden wanting to know if Daddy will fulfill his promise of taking them to a proper football academy and be present at their first official match. They said, ‘Daddy told them he wouldn’t miss it for anything in the world.’ Then the littlest one, Jamon—fondly called J Papa by Daddy—keeps asking when Daddy is bringing the big toy car he promised him.”

”Though you’re no longer by our side, you live on in every memory, every smile, and every tear. We shall carry you with us always until we meet again. May your soul rest in perfect peace, my love.”

Junior Pope tragically lost his life on April 8, 2024, in a boat accident on the Anam River in Anambra State while returning from a movie shoot. His sudden death shocked the Nollywood community and left a deep void among family, friends, and fans.

As the family marks this somber anniversary, tributes have continued to pour in from industry colleagues and well-wishers. Actress May Edochie, among others, remembered Junior Pope for his warmth and dedication to family, praying for strength for Jennifer and the children.
