The tragic d.eath of Abdulsalam Ginsau, a lawyer from Kano State, has stirred widespread reactions across Nigeria, with many people raising fresh concerns about safety standards in public facilities.
According to reports, Ginsau d.ied after becoming trapped inside a lift at a hotel in Abuja. While the full details are still unclear, it is believed that he was stuck for some time and eventually lost consciousness, leading to his death.
As news of the incident spread, the Internet users began sharing their thoughts, with some pointing to familiar issues like unstable power supply or possible mechanical faults. However, there has been no official confirmation yet on what exactly caused the lift to malfunction.
The incident was also acknowledged by former federal lawmaker, Shehu Sani, who described the situation as deeply unfortunate in a post on his X (formerly Twitter) account.
Reacting to the development, he expressed sadness and questioned what might have gone wrong.
In his words, the case of Abdulsalam Ginsau was “very pathetic,” adding that it remains uncertain whether it was caused by a power outage, a technical failure, or simply an unavoidable tragedy. He also offered prayers for the repose of the deceased’s soul.
Since then, the incident has intensified conversations around the condition of infrastructure in Nigeria, especially in busy urban areas. Many observers are now calling for stricter safety checks, better maintenance practices, and stronger enforcement of regulations in hotels and other public spaces.
For many Nigerians, the hope is that this tragedy will serve as a wake-up call to prevent similar incidents in the future.
