Steve Cooper, 44, takes over from Enzo Maresca, who left the club to join Chelsea after guiding Leicester to promotion from the Championship.

Steve Cooper, who led Nottingham Forest to promotion and Premier League survival, was out of work since leaving Forest in December 2023.

He expressed his excitement and pride in being appointed Leicester City’s first-team manager, citing the club’s rich history and passionate supporters.

Leicester City Chairman, Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha, welcomed Cooper, stating that his vision for the team, including his ability to develop players and implement a dynamic style of play, aligns with the club’s aspirations.

Srivaddhanaprabha also highlighted Cooper’s leadership ability to build on the strong relationship between the fans and the team, strengthening a bond vital to re-establishing the club in the Premier League.

Cooper’s first competitive fixture in charge will be on August 19, when Leicester host Tottenham in the Premier League.
