The LFF attributes the delay to routine air traffic and logistical challenges, rather than deliberate foul play.

They emphasized that the diversion of the Nigerian team’s flight was due to standard air traffic control protocols and security checks.

The LFF highlighted similar challenges faced by their national team in Nigeria, noting they didn’t make public accusations. “We firmly reject claims of foul play or sabotage,” the statement read.

The LFF respects Nigeria and had no intention of creating difficulties for the Super Eagles. Libya prioritizes hospitality, treating visiting teams with respect and dignity.

The federation urged for a resolution through mutual understanding, promoting unity and sportsmanship in football. “Hosting events is a great honor; we ensure teams feel safe and respected. Our doors are open to Nigerian brothers and all African teams.”

Meanwhile, the Nigeria Football Federation has filed a formal complaint with the Confederation of African Football over the incident.
