Lil Durk’s 10-year-old son reportedly shot his stepfather, Joshua Pippens, during an argument involving the boy’s mother.
Surveillance footage captured the moment when the child allegedly grabbed a gun from Pippens and fired at him. Pippens was seen trying to restrain the boy’s mother before the incident unfolded. The shooting happened on July 1, and Pippens later spoke out from his hospital bed.
“As y’all can see I was not the aggressor. And y’all also can see how I still had my gun on my hip. He grabbed my gun off my hip following his mom’s lead and tried to shoot me and then actually shot me.”
“My gun was on my hip and I was trying to protect myself from getting shot. I never in a million years thought a kid I bought four wheelers and paid football leagues and everything would do this but he only knows what mom shows him. I still love him like he’s mine.”
Pippens also suggested a custody dispute over a shared child might have been the reason for the argument:
“Whatever makes y’all feel better. That’s why I got custody of my kids and she don’t. Y’all so internet thank god it was me that took the shot and not her.”
Meanwhile, rapper Lil Durk has not yet reacted to the incident.
