Singer and Mavin Records artiste, Magixx, has shed light on the label’s approach to developing its artistes, revealing that new signings may have to wait two to three months before they begin making money.
According to the singer, artistes signed by Don Jazzy are first expected to release songs with international appeal before they can fully benefit financially from the opportunities that come with the label.
Speaking in an interview, he said:
“When Don Jazzy signs you, you first have to drop a song with international appeal before cashing out. It takes 2–3 months before you start making money. One hit song can earn you ₦500k–₦700k per show, while another hit can take your fee to ₦1.5 million”.
He explained that having hit songs is key to making more money, as it helps artistes attract bigger shows and charge higher performance fees.
Magixx, whose real name is Alexander Adelabu, joined Mavin Records in September 2021 and has since released several songs, including ‘Love Don’t Cost a Dime’ and ‘All Over’.
