Nollywood actress Yvonne Jegede has expressed deep concern over the current state of the nation, noting the struggles faced by young people across Nigeria.

In a candid statement, the actress lamented the growing difficulty in finding humor or positivity amid worsening socio-economic conditions.

She stated, “I find it difficult to post anything funny these days.. There’s nothing to laugh about when I think of my country.”

Jegede went on to criticize systemic challenges affecting the youth, asserting that “Nigeria has destroyed it’s youth. Nigeria has been hijacked.”

She urged citizens to reflect and reform societal attitudes, adding, “Learn, unlearn, relearn. We need to purge ourselves of our bad behaviors.”

Addressing the government directly, the actress called for urgent action to improve security and economic conditions. She emphasized the importance of creating a safe environment where citizens can work and earn a living without fear.

“Nigerian government, please make Nigeria safe for everyone to be able to go out to hustle. Things are hard, let it be safe for people to travel to other places/cities to fend for themselves,” she said.

Highlighting the link between employment and national development, Jegede concluded with a pointed remark: “Na person wey get work and dey earn go fit pay tax.”

Her comments echo the frustrations of many Nigerians, particularly young people, who continue to grapple with economic hardship and security concerns across the country.
