Seyi Makinde, the Governor of Oyo State, has officially declared his ambition to run for the 2027 presidential election.

Makinde made the announcement on Thursday during a joint mega rally organised by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in Ibadan, where he unveiled his presidential bid.

“The time to reset Nigeria is now. Therefore, today, I, Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde, announce my candidacy for the position of the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” he declared.

He criticised the current state of the nation, saying the situation has worsened and left many Nigerians struggling for daily survival, while accusing those in government of failing in their responsibilities.

Makinde added that citizens have been pushed to the edge, stressing that many are now exhausted by hardship and uncertainty.

Addressing claims that the opposition cannot unite, he said such views were wrong, insisting that the real opposition represents ordinary Nigerians affected by the country’s challenges.

He also announced a political alliance between the PDP and APM, describing it as a step toward fielding candidates at all levels in the 2027 general elections, from the presidency down to state assemblies.
