Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State on Sunday met with ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo, alongside former governors of Ekiti and Osun states, Kayode Fayemi, and Olagunsoye Oyinlola
They met the elder statesman, in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

The meeting, held behind closed doors, took place at Obasanjo’s Penthouse residence within the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL).
Excited about the meeting, the Oyo Governor announced it on X with photos, stating;
“Earlier today (Sunday), we visited Baba, His Excellency Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, GCFR, in Abeokuta. Our discussions centred on important national issues in view of the upcoming general election.
“We appreciate Baba for his wise counsel at this crucial time in our nation’s history.”

Makinde is the presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) for the 2027 election.
Oyinlola is a prominent stakeholder of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), while Fayemi is a leading figure in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Fayemi has, on several occasions, made remarks perceived as critical of the administration of President Bola Tinubu and the ruling APC, fuelling speculation about his political stance ahead of the 2027 polls.
