Governor Seyi Makinde visited His Royal Majesty Oba Rashidi Ladoja, the Olubadan-designate, at his residence

The visit, announced via a post on X by the Governor, underscored the ongoing preparations for the upcoming coronation of the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland.
During the meeting, Governor Makinde and his delegation engaged with Oba Ladoja to finalize plans for the coronation ceremony, scheduled to take place soon.
The exact date has been widely reported as September 26, 2025, following the governor’s approval of Ladoja’s nomination by the Olubadan-in-Council.
The event is anticipated to be a grand affair, drawing dignitaries, traditional rulers, and well-wishers from across Nigeria to the historic Mapo Hall in Ibadan.

In his statement, Governor Makinde expressed deep pride in Ibadanland’s traditional institution, highlighting its unique succession system that has guided the transition of leadership for generations.
“We are so proud of our traditional institution in Ibadanland and its unique succession system,” he noted, reflecting the cultural significance of the impending enthronement.

Oba Rashidi Ladoja, a former governor of Oyo State and a prominent figure in the region’s political and traditional landscape, was unanimously nominated by the Olubadan-in-Council following the passing of the late Oba Owolabi Olakulehin on July 7, 2025.
