A high court sitting in Yenogoa, Bayelsa state has sentenced a man, Daniel Amaso, to life in prison for r.a.ping a 17-year-old pre-degree student of the state-owned Niger Delta University in Amassoma
The convict was arrested for forcefully entering the 17-year-old apartment in Amassoma community, Southern Ijaw LGA, with a knife.
He was said to have r.a.ped her under duress and robbed her of her phone afterwards.
Daniel Amaso was charged with r.a.pe, armed robbery and causing grievous harm before Hon. Justice Christine Kombo-Enegesi.
Daniel was consequently found guilty on the three counts on Monday and sentenced to life imprisonment for the offences of r.a.pe and armed robbery and 7 years for the offence of inflicting grievous harm.
