A young man identified as Ibrahim Mbaye has d!ed after being brutally assaulted over allegations that he stole an iPhone 16 at an off-campus apartment in the Ring Road area of Jos, Plateau State
According to reports, Ibrahim had spent the night at a friend’s residence behind the City of David area in Ring Road. The following morning, his friend allegedly accused him of stealing an iPhone 16, claiming that because they were the only two people in the room, Ibrahim was the prime suspect.
He was allegedly subjected to severe torture, humiliation and physical abuse by a group of students.
Reports further claim that he was later locked inside a room while a nurse was invited to examine him. The nurse reportedly confirmed that he had d!ed.
It is alleged that those involved then attempted to move his body to the emergency unit of the Jos University Teaching Hospital in an effort to make the incident appear to be a medical emergency before police were alerted. Authorities have since arrested suspects in connection with the case.
Photos showing Ibrahim with a badly swollen face have emerged fuelling calls for a thorough investigation and accountability for everyone involved.
