A man d!ed after he allegedly cut off his own p3nis in downtown L.A. early Saturday morning
Information surrounding the incident was scarce at first. A Los Angeles Police Department spokesperson confirmed to KTLA that officers responded to the intersection of Figueroa Street and Pico Boulevard — across from the L.A. Convention Center — at 3:40 a.m. on reports of a man who was cutting himself.
A white tent was seen at the scene, indicating a fatality had occurred, and the LAPD spokesperson verified that a de.ath investigation is underway but did not provide any further details on the incident.
According to a photographer with news stringer service OnSceneTV, the man died after he “cut his penis off and bled to de.ath,” but police officials did not elaborate on which part of the body the man suffered injuries to.
Graphic footage taken by the photographer, who alleged the man was “mutilating himself,” showed his body lying on the ground with what appeared to be a large wound in his groin area.
There was blood next to the clothing the man had been wearing, which was located a short distance away from where he was found.
No information on the man’s identity was known right away.
