The man, identified as Maxwell Azzarello, 37, had arrived from Florida recently, surprising his family who were unaware of his trip. He had no prior criminal record in New York.

Eyewitnesses recounted the chaotic scene, with police swiftly intervening to extinguish the flames. Azzarello was rushed to the hospital in critical condition, suffering severe burns.

Investigators are piecing together the events leading to the incident, collecting pamphlets scattered by Azzarello. So far, he hasn’t provided any explanation for his actions.
