A man allegedly shot his 19-year-old wife dead after he came home and found her in bed with another man.
Osmara J. Martinez was shot in the head in an alleyway in the city of Tehuantepec in southern Mexico.
Police suspect her husband murdered her after he came home and found her having sex with another man, reports La Prensa.
Local reports say the victim’s 26-year-old partner, named only as Alfonso E. R., had found Osmara with the man at their home in the neighbourhood of Lieza.
The other man managed to escape, but Osmara was shot in the head in an alleyway.
Relatives rushed to her aid but were unable to save her and she died at the scene.
Authorities investigating the death reportedly found the suspect visibly drunk with marks on his neck as if he had tried to hang himself when they went to arrest him.
The victim’s family told local media Osmara met her husband at age 14 and did not finish her high school studies.
The family said they had not agreed with the couple’s plans to wed at the time – as she was a minor seven years his junior.
A relative told local newspaper El Universal: “We never agreed with her marrying him.
“She would come here to visit us with blows to her face and her body. She always said that she had hurt herself when she tripped.”
