A married man in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe enraged by a missed phone call from an unknown number, brutally assaulted his girlfriend, leading to her de.ath
Moses Remayi, a married man, attacked his girlfriend after she refused to answer a call from an unknown number, which he suspected was from another man. The horrifying incident left the victim de.ad after days of suffering.
Sunday Mail reported that Remayi, who recently appeared before Bulawayo High Court judge Justice Evangelista Kabasa, was sentenced to 18 years in prison after being found guilty of murder.
Despite pleading not guilty, Remayi admitted his anger was triggered by the phone call.
According to testimony, the argument turned violent, with Remayi hitting his girlfriend with a steel chair, fists, and feet. He locked the door and continued the assault for nearly an hour.
The brutal beating left the woman half-n_ked and severely injured. A neighbour, Cynthia Chaleka, found her bleeding and covered her with a blanket. Despite being rushed to the hospital, she died from the injuries days later.
Police arrested Remayi, recovering the iron bar used in the assault. His defence claimed the deadly violence began after his girlfriend bit him during their argument. He insisted he had no intention of klling her, but the court rejected his explanation, finding him responsible for her de.ath.
The tragic incident has shocked the local community, with many expressing outrage over the senseless k!lling. Remayi now faces nearly two decades behind bars for the brutal crime.
