Veteran Nollywood actress Bukky Wright has advised men to stop accusing women of being “gold diggers,” insisting that providing for a partner is part of a man’s responsibility in a relationship
Speaking during a recent interview, Wright said a man should naturally want his woman to look good and be proud of her without waiting for her to ask for basic needs such as clothing and personal care.
According to the actress, if a man knows he cannot meet the financial demands of the kind of relationship he desires, he should either avoid dating or choose a partner whose lifestyle matches his means.
Bukky Wright also dismissed the frequent use of the term “gold digger,” arguing that women are justified in seeking partners who can provide a comfortable life.
She said:
“I hate it when I hear men calling women gold diggers. What do you expect her to dig—shit? No. I wouldn’t advise any woman to take anything less than gold.
“She doesn’t even need to ask you. It is your responsibility as a man to know that your woman needs to wear good clothes and look good. She should be your pride.
“If you know you cannot afford it, then don’t date. Or date according to your level.”
