Mojisola Meranda has resigned as the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly
She announced her resignation during Monday’s plenary session, stating that her decision was a personal sacrifice to protect the integrity of the legislative institution.
Meranda’s resignation comes amid an ongoing leadership crisis in the Assembly, with reports suggesting that her exit clears the way for the reinstatement of impeached former Speaker Mudashiru Obasa.
Before stepping down, lawmakers commended Meranda for her legislative contributions and leadership during her tenure.
