James and Jennifer Crumbley faced charges of involuntary manslaughter for their son’s deadly attack at Oxford High School in 2021.

The judge cited their failure to stop the attack as she handed down the sentence, saying they ignored warning signs.

Their son, Ethan Crumbley, used a gun they had purchased when he carried out the shooting.

The Crumbleys expressed remorse in court, but the judge emphasized the severity of their negligence.

Prosecutors argued that the parents ignored signs of their son’s deteriorating mental health and should be held responsible.

The tragedy has prompted calls for improved school safety measures and mental health support.
