Millionaire Countess Maya Dies Of Cancer After Staging ONE LAST PARTY With Stars & The Clintons

On being awarded £9 million in a divorce settlement from her billionaire husband, Mercedes Benz heir Mick Flick, Countess Maya von Schoenburg memorably remarked that it ‘wasn’t enough’.

The party-loving aristocrat and friend of the royals managed to contain her disappointment and went on to attract the admiration of numerous suitors, including former Sotheby’s chairman Henry Wyndham.

Hailed as one of the last great socialites of old-school glamour, it’s sad to reveal that Maya died on Sunday in Munich after battling cancer.

It was a testament to her indomitable spirit that she fitted in one big party before her death — her 60th birthday celebration at Munich’s beer festival, Oktoberfest, attended by Bill and Hillary Clinton, Hollywood mogul Barry Diller, designer Diane von Furstenberg, Prince Michael of Kent and actress Demi Moore.

‘The amazing thing was that she threw the party although she was terminally ill with lung cancer,’ says a family member.

‘She knew that she only had a few weeks to live, but she wanted to assemble all her friends for a last time and show them a good time. Secretly, it was her farewell party.’

She had three grown-up children by Flick, from whom she separated in 1993.

Awarded £4 million cash and a £5 million home on the edge of Windsor Great Park in her divorce, Maya was given leave in the High Court to have the sum increased, but she decided not to proceed.

Maya will be buried in Munich and there will be a memorial service at London’s Brompton Oratory in March.
