Tragedy has struck the football community with the sudden passing of Matija Sarkic, Millwall’s 26-year-old goalkeeper
While on international duty with Montenegro, Sarkic fell gravely ill in his apartment in Budva, Montenegro, and tragically succumbed to his condition at 6:30 am local time on Saturday.
This devastating news comes just a week after he played a full match against Belgium, representing Montenegro.
Millwall Football Club has issued a statement expressing their deep sorrow and shock at the loss of their talented goalkeeper, who made 33 appearances for the club since joining in August 2023.
The club honors Sarkic’s memory and extends their condolences to his family and friends during this difficult time, respectfully requesting privacy for the grieving family.
