The declaration highlighted several of Wizkid’s milestones, including:

  • Being the first Nigerian artist to feature on a No. 1 hit on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 with Drake’s “One Dance” in 2016.
  • Selling out London’s O2 Arena in May 2018, a historic feat for a Nigerian musician.
  • Walking the runway for international fashion brand Dolce & Gabbana in June 2018, becoming the first African artist to do so.
  • Collaborating with Nike on a project to fund schools across Africa, starting with Nigeria.
  • Winning multiple prestigious awards, including three Billboard Music Awards.

On that day, thousands of fans gathered at Minneapolis’ Skyway Theatre to celebrate Wizkid’s music and achievements, marking a major cultural milestone for the city.
