The community of Richmond has been enveloped in grief following the tragic discovery of the body of eight-year-old Ryan Akagbusi, a non-verbal Nigerian boy, who went missing from his home early on August 24, 2024

Authorities reported that Ryan was last seen leaving his bedroom at approximately 4:56 a.m., with surveillance footage showing him walking down a nearby street around 30 minutes later.
Despite an extensive search effort involving K9 units, helicopters, and drones, Ryan’s body was recovered from a lake near his last known location on August 25, 2024.
The Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the recovery of Ryan’s body via their official Facebook page, bringing a tragic end to the search. The page quickly became a forum for local residents to express their condolences and share their shock and sorrow.
A resident known as Tacoma Burden wrote, “I’m praying hard for this family. It’s my worst nightmare as a parent with a child on the spectrum.
“Checking multiple times is always key, too, not just once. We just had another child found in a retention pond not too long ago, that the police said they had searched before, and she was recovered from the same place.”
