In a lengthy statement shared on her Instagram page, Iyabo wrote: “In an attempt to set the record straight and avoid lies, which seems to be repeatedly milled around to create an impression of truth, it is better to respond otherwise the gospel of foolishness would ascend the crescendo of conscience.”

She explained that her initial video calling for justice clearly stated she couldn’t fight the battle alone and had called on others, including celebrities, to join the cause. This led to the formation of two groups — one for a peaceful walk, and another called “Concerned Citizens” for those who wanted to remain involved after the walk was cancelled.

“The group’s objective was to seek justice for Mohbad through writing and seeking rightful authority intervention, not to get you arrested,” she said. “You were arrested for defamation, not for seeking justice for Mohbad – let’s be clear.”

Iyabo accused VeryDarkMan of spreading false narratives to gain social media clout at the expense of those genuinely seeking justice. “I am not oblivious you’d rather go the extra mile to cast aspersion, deploy several awful innuendos, disparaging fictitious narratives to cancel the efforts of like minds in order to place your skit-making at vantage position and high traction in social media,” she wrote.

She stressed that there were many professionals in the group working behind the scenes and that diverse conversations during emotional moments did not take away from the group’s primary mission. “The core mission remained unchanged — fighting for justice!”

On his arrest, she clarified: “I was involved in the first petition against you for defamation, but you weren’t arrested then; you were invited and left the same day. I didn’t follow it up because Paulo asked me to drop it. In the second petition, my name was included as a witness due to numerous false accusations.”

She also outlined the group’s four key objectives:

  • Exhumation: Exhume Mohbad’s body for autopsy
  • Investigation: Probe videos, pictures, petitions, and write-ups
  • Inquiry: Interview those who were with Mohbad in his final moments
  • Befitting Burial: Ensure Mohbad is buried respectfully

She added: “We agreed that Mohbad’s catalog and royalties should be handed to his family.” According to her, some of these goals had been achieved, such as the exhumation of the body, a coroner’s inquest, and questioning of individuals named in Mohbad’s petition.

Iyabo maintained she did not receive any money for her involvement. “On a final note, it is important to note that I was driven by a quest for justice for Mohbad, not financial gain. Every penny spent was from my own pocket, no one, I repeat no one paid me.”

She concluded: “Moving forward I will no longer address any issue relating to this matter.”

In the caption, she added: “Nothing about the group was secret…….. Also @verydarkblackman to clear the air, I never requested to see you. Officer Suleiman was the one who pleaded with me to settle and make peace with you. He then called me on June 28th at 6:45 a.m., informing me that you wanted to meet with me, and I agreed, and peace was made.”
