In a detailed post titled “For Public Records,” shared via Instagram, the actress addressed recent developments, including her police invitation, her advocacy efforts, the threats she’s faced, and widespread misconceptions about her role in the justice campaign for Mohbad.

Iyabo confirmed she was recently invited by the Nigeria Police Force, National Cybercrime Centre in Abuja, following petitions over a live video she recorded years ago. In that video, she urged certain individuals to voluntarily come forward and assist with investigations into Mohbad’s d3ath.

“I never affirmed that Mohbad’s d3ath was caused by any specific individual. Otherwise, I would not have taken the legal and investigative actions I did,” she stated.

She explained that her NGO, Pinkies Foundation, sent official letters to the Lagos State Governor, the Attorney General, the Commissioner of Police, and other key authorities. In those letters, she demanded a full and independent investigation into Mohbad’s death, along with a coroner’s inquest.

Iyabo also revealed that she and other social advocates held meetings with then-Commissioner of Police, Mr. Idowu Owohunwa, the late Deputy Commissioner of the Lagos State CID, Mr. Ayilara, and members of the Lagos State House of Assembly to press for accountability.

She noted that Mohbad’s wife, brother, and others were also invited for questioning, adding that she has no control over how the police conduct their investigations.

Addressing the increasing threats to her safety, Iyabo revealed that she has been the target of death threats and violent attacks for years.

“Certain individuals have consistently called for my d3ath, the destruction of my source of livelihood, and have incited violence against me and my children, all without any intervention from the authorities,” she said.

“Just days before my daughter’s wedding in Tanzania, I received a letter threatening my life. The letter stated clearly that I would go through hell over the next three months.”

She further revealed that physical signs of these threats have now become bolder—coffins with her name inscribed on them, videos threatening her life and property, and targeted intimidation campaigns against her family and business.

Iyabo also linked some of the hostility to her political stance during the last elections, stating that her personal opinions have led to attacks and harassment, even though she believes every citizen has a right to free expression.

“My advocacy for social justice and political views may have earned me enemies, but that should not translate into threats against my life,” she wrote.

Reaffirming her position on Mohbad’s case, she said:

“I never accused anyone of killing him. I only reacted emotionally to the disturbing videos that circulated at the time and used my platform to demand justice. Every step I took was directed through legal and official means, and I personally bore all the expenses through my foundation.”

She emphasized that only the police have the authority to invite or investigate anyone, and she has never influenced or directed any such actions.

Despite being ready to honor any further police invitation, Iyabo pleaded for time to recover emotionally following the fire incident that recently destroyed her office.

“It is only humane to give me the space to tend to my health and emotional well-being,” she added.

Iyabo concluded by expressing her faith in God and gratitude to those who have stood by her:

“Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but God will deliver me from them all. I am thankful to the police, concerned individuals, friends, and supporters who have shown me love regardless of tribe, religion, or opinion.”
