Monday Motivation: Me And My Network

The most fantastic thing that has happened to me in life is
PEOPLE. I grew in the midst of wonderful people, ranging from my parents,
siblings (my twin brother) and my close relatives. You see, these people have
significantly shaped my life positively. I wonder what I would have become if
not for the people that I have
come across in my journey so far.
    Presently, I have some fantastic guys as colleagues at work;
I always look forward to going to work because these people will surely make my
day. I wouldn’t say I don’t have issues with them, but the truth is; it’s normal
to have issues and one has to be mature and professional in handling things.
People are unique and so are my guys.

Social Networking is the “buzz” at the moment and the first
place to start building is your immediate network. When you look closely, you
will discover that you have wonderful people around you. The purpose for
networking is to learn and share opportunities for growth and advancement with
each other, this I have enjoyed so far from my network. I have a friend who
would call me just for anything, when ever he needs something; the first step
is to call Sydney (me) to ask where he can get it, and I have been of great
help to this great friend of mine. The idea of having programme where I train
people on PowerPoint Presentation Design was suggested by friend, and I decided
to give it a try and it’s been a success so far.
You are missing a great deal from your networks if you are
trying to “walk alone”. We all need each other and that is the essence of
networking and networks. Now go through your phone book and social media
contact list to see whether these contacts can get you that big break, if not,
deliberately organise it to fit in. Your future is in your network.
Another category of people that you need to get the next
level in your career and business is a mentor. A mentor is someone who is
interested in your growth and success. He someone who has skills and experience
in the field or business your about go into. I have a fantastic mentor who has
helped me become better in the area speaking and training, he is regarded as a
top notch professional speaker in nigeria today, he is name is Niyi Adesanya,
the CEO of Fifth Gear Consulting. He has been my mentor for the past 8 years
and my life has been greatly impacted by this man. I also have a mentor who is
presently helping become better in my profession, he hears me speaks and later
correct my errors gently and I am getting better by the day.
You need to have people who look out for you. You can not
get there all alone. You need around people with positive energy, people with
positive ideas that can fuel your creativity. You were not meant to walk alone.
Remain creative and be true to yourself, until we meet next
    week.
