In preparation for nationwide protests, the Yobe State Government has announced the closure of all primary and secondary schools.

This was stated by the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education in a memo signed by the Director of Schools Management, Bukar M. Modu. The closures will start on July 31, 2024, two days before the academic session was scheduled to end on August 2. Schools are expected to reopen on September 15, 2024.

Similarly, the Katsina State Government has ordered the immediate closure of all schools effective Wednesday, July 31, 2024. This directive, announced by Sani Danjuma-Suleiman, spokesman for the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, applies to all public, private, and community schools. Parents are urged to pick up their children, especially those in boarding schools, to ensure their safety during the holidays.

Additionally, the Osun State government has also mandated the closure of all schools, both public and private, starting July 31. This decision is in response to the anticipated #EndBadGovernance protests, which demand economic reforms and better welfare policies under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
