Jose Mourinho, manager of Fenerbahce, has been handed a fine and additional sanctions by the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) for his post-match criticism of VAR official Atilla Karaoglan

Mourinho’s outburst followed Fenerbahce’s dramatic win over Trabzonspor, secured by Sofyan Amrabat’s goal in the 12th minute of stoppage time. Despite the victory, Mourinho expressed frustration over two contentious penalties awarded to Trabzonspor, claiming VAR officiating favored the home side.
The TFF deemed Mourinho’s comments in the post-match interview and press conference as unsportsmanlike and damaging to the reputation of Turkish football.
Mourinho will have to pay a fine of £20,178 and an additional £1,300. He is also banned for one match, prohibiting him from accessing the dressing room and touchline.
The TFF cited Mourinho’s statements as contravening sportsmanship, ethics, and fair play principles.
